Welcome to Black Girl Seen: A New Chapter

To the Black girl who is ready to come out of hiding, I see you.

If you’re new here, welcome. And, if you’ve been following the page for a while, thank you and welcome to the new chapter of Black Girl Seen.

Even though I birthed the concept years prior, I started Black Girl Seen in September 2020 because I was…tired.

I was tired of feeling invisible. I was tired of feeling like I wasn’t allowed to feel. I was tired of feeling like the only thing I was allowed to be was “strong.” I was tired of holding so much back, holding so much in. And, in my own life and in my early years of being a therapist, I was seeing too many other black women doing the same.

It felt like the right time to platform things like softness, vulnerability, and being seen. I’ve loved sharing those musings on Instagram, and now, I’m excited to share them on the new and improved website and the Black Girl Seen podcast!

If you’re ready for more—for more intimacy, more depth, more connection, more authenticity, and more peace—then this space may be for you.

Take a moment to subscribe to the podcast and be sure to start at Episode 1: Why We Hide and Why Being Seen Helps Us Heal. In this episode, we take a deep dive into the foundation of Black Girl Seen—the power of practicing vulnerability and letting ourselves be seen as our path towards healing. We explore:

  • What it really means to be seen

  • Why we hide and what hiding looks like

  • How allowing ourselves to be seen helps us heal

Let’s get cozy, cue up the first episode, and spend some intimate time reflecting on what we need today. After you listen, pop over to the blog to leave a comment or let me know what you think and what else you want to hear on the podcast!

And, don’t forget to check-in with yourself: How are you allowing yourself to be seen this week? You deserve it.

I see you,

Kay 🤎
