Understand this if you understand nothing: it is a powerful thing to be seen.

BEHIND THE BRAND

THERAPIST • CREATIVE • ENTREPRENEUR

I started scripting about Black Girl Seen long before I finally started it.

As a therapist and writer, I was familiar with helping people sit with and overcome deep pain. And yet, there was a pain I couldn’t quite figure out for myself.

With every training on trauma, attachment, and even when publishing articles about black women and mental health, I would further feel confused. My pain didn’t seem to “fit” the description of anything I read about. It didn’t seem real enough, deep enough, bad enough. Yet, I never felt full enough, loved enough, or good enough. Then, it came to me: I didn’t feel seen.

This idea of feeling seen revealed itself to me to be about so much more than wanting attention or being liked. It’s a soul-level journey to uncovering your truth and unburdening from shame. This journey is a practice of radical self-love, and it’s a practice I believe so many other black women deserve to travel.

I’m so grateful that you’re here, and I hope this platform helps you take steps towards the healing you deserve, too.

I see you,

MAY EVERY BLACK GIRL FEEL SEEN.

this is the journey to embracing #radicalvulnerability and creating a lived experience of seeing and being seen, of loving and being loved. Let’s figure it out together.
